Outdoor kitchen Potters Bar

In 2013, following the success of our previous contract in St George’s Hill, Weybridge, we were contacted again by luxury house builder Octagon Developments to build an outdoor kitchen for a private client in an exclusive estate just outside Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.

The plan was developed with Landscape Architect Cowley White of Wilkinson White from their site sketches and provided for a small wood-fired oven set in a stone clad enclosure with a gas fireplace underneath. A separate L- shaped unit housed a large mains gas Firemagic Echelon 1060i BBQ, round stainless steel under-mount sink and cleverly disguised bespoke hardwood ventilation louvres for the underground car-park.

The Outdoor kitchen Potters Bar was a very smart scheme clad for us by specialist New Image Stone, in beautiful Basalt-like Pietra Matraia , a fine-grained grey stone that comes in large format slabs. The worktops had special glued down-stands giving the impression of 100mm thick stone, a nice way of giving weight and solidity to a surface.

The stone went particularly well with the white limestone paving from London Stone and FSC Iroko louvres. The mains gas inset fireplace was supplied by Urban Fires and fitted neatly inside the Chesneys adapted ‘Tate’ fire surround. Above we enclosed a Four Grand-mere 800 chamotte oven that we retrofitted with a small Avanzini mains gas burner for convenience.

The project was handed over in early 2014 and sits very nicely next to the new-build house set in the extensive grounds of Leggatts Park, a private estate just outside Potters Bar.

Projects like this high end build in Potters Bar is just a sample of what can be achieved with planning and a technically outstanding work force. If we can’t do something in house then we subcontract to specialists who are at the top of their profession.

Luxury house builders demands a very high standard of finish and well thought out details so if you use us on your project, you can expect the same demanding and rigorous attention paid to every aspect of the build.

We are a small business and rely on good will and technical expertise from specialists so don’t expect us to be the cheapest builders. Our expertise is design and sustainable construction so we strive to build with the least waste and lowest energy input as standard using materials with low embodied energy wherever possible.

Importing high end BBQs and appliances is a compromise we have to make in order to get appliances that last as long as possible with the least maintenance. They are built to last and often come with a guarantee period much longer than standard. We believe this is the right approach even though the initial outlay is often much higher- you will be rewarded with something that performs well year after year if it is cleaned and maintained.
