Valoriani pizza oven

The client contacted us in 2011 to come up with a design to go with his newly renovated house and garden in London’s Belsize Park.

Taking the themes present in the garden- whitewashed walls and river pebble tile paving- we prepared a plan to include an oven he had already bought and had delivered. The design and final installation incorporated a GR100 Valoriani pizza oven decorated with plain white lime render and pebbles flanked by two hardwood cupboards with granite worktops.

This project is unusual for us as we now only specify Four Grand-Mere ovens but in 2011, we were using Valoriani as it is a DEFRA approved appliance for smoke control areas. We can still get their ovens in special cases until our own ovens are approved for use in 2020.

We used pre-cast drainage rings to make the base and cast a reinforced concrete slab inside the void to bear the weight of the oven. The outside was then clad in brick before plastering in Lime render and adding the pebble detail.

The client was pleased with a smart solution for his smart and modern garden.
