Straw Logs

We are pleased to be able to introduce this new sustainable fuel to the market by working closely with a new farming enterprise here in the UK. All the logs have around 10-12% moisture content making them probably the lowest moisture content products on the fuel market. Supplied in handy bags for ease of handling, we can supply you with small quantities from stock (local deliveries only) or bulk deliveries on a pallet straight from our manufacturer. If you're local to Bradford on Avon, we can even drop round a sample for you to try before you buy! These logs are suitable for both wood-fired pizza ovens and wood-burning stoves. Straw Logs, or straw pellets, are a true biofuel and these ecologs offer a green solution to the food –v- fuel debate. Straw Logs are produced from the renewable agricultural by-product of a commercial farming operation. From Field to Fuel these Botanical Heat logs offer an all natural, environmentally friendly fire log.

Wheat grown for the UK bread industry, peas for processing and Oilseed rape for locally coldpressed rape seed oil ‘Oil of Wight’ all leave a straw by-product following harvest of the grain or seed.

Whether the straw is allowed to decompose in the field, or is burnt as a fuel, the same amount of CO2 is released to the atmosphere. The following years crops reabsorb the equivalent CO2 creating a carbon neutral growth cycle.

The carbon cycle for straw logs is the shortest of all available fuels. The carbon is recycled within one year compared to 5 to 150 years for wood or the 500 million year old carbon released from Fossil Fuels. The Straw Logs therefore do not increase the amount of ancient trapped carbon being released to the atmosphere to contribute to greenhouse gases.
